CAFE L' EUROPE – Restaurant

A landmark corner on South County Road, open since 1980 and run by the Marcello family: French bistro at the front, a grand bar, a private dining room and tables outside. Executive chef Alain Krauss cooks the classics without irony, from Dover sole meuniere and yellowtail snapper almondine to steak au poivre, wiener schnitzel with spatzle and red cabbage, tagliatelle bolognese, chicken milanese and braised short ribs. Caviar gets its own section, from a Kaspia baked potato to scrambled eggs under kaluga. The cellar holds over two thousand bottles, forty-odd by the glass. Dinner runs nightly in season; brunch weekends.
