CAFE ORIENTAL – Restaurant

A small Japanese kitchen on SW 77th Avenue in south Miami that cooks the everyday food rather than the showpieces. Onigiri is the draw: salmon, tuna with mayo, kani with masago and spicy mayo, unagi, chashu, wrapped to order. Beyond that come katsu curry, chicken katsu, curry rice, chicken and beef teriyaki don, yakiniku don, steamed shrimp dumplings, gyoza, spicy edamame, yakisoba, yaki udon and ramen. Diners return for the curry and the miso soup, which taste made rather than assembled. Two short services a day, midday and early evening. Whatever else you order here, do not skip the onigiri.
