CAFE PANISSE – Restaurant

A ten-table French bistro tucked into a Red Road strip mall in South Miami: mustard-yellow walls, a kitchen barely bigger than a galley, handwritten checks. It traded as Cafe Pastis until August 2024, when the name changed to end confusion with a Wynwood arrival. The cooking is comfort first. Gratineed onion soup, escargot sizzling in garlic butter, mussels in white wine, steak frites, duck a l'orange, lamb shank, roasted grouper with leeks and potatoes. House baguettes reach the table in paper bags, birthdays get a sailor's bell, and an upside-down pear tart closes. Tight little room, generous plates, fair prices.
