CARMELA COFFEE COMPANY – Restaurant

North University Drive, Parkland: this is where Carmela started, opening in 2018 before the brand spread across South Florida. The coffee comes from El Cuminate, the family's farm in Costa Rica's West Valley, roasted in small batches once it reaches Florida. Mornings mean shakshuka poached in tomato, pepper and cumin sauce, breakfast croissants, bagels with lox, and oven-baked pancakes under berries and lime-maple syrup. From midday: fig, brie and almond toast, vegan hummus bowls, Carmela salad, Mediterranean flatbread, turkey and Swiss on brioche. Neighbors keep describing it as a genuine community room. The original Carmela, still doing the original job.
