CASITAS CAFE – Restaurant

A small Cuban cafeteria on NW 167th Street with about ten seats, opening at seven for the breakfast rush and closing mid-afternoon. Mornings run on eggs any way with ham, sausage or bacon, a three-egg Spanish tortilla stuffed with potato, and cafe con leche alongside buttered toast. Sandwiches follow: cubano on Cuban bread, lechon asado with onions, a croqueta preparada. The daily plates are the reason to come back, ropa vieja, vaca frita, picadillo a la criolla, fricase de pollo and masa de cerdo frita, each plated with white rice, moro or rice and beans, plus fries, salad or tostones.
