Fried baskets, hushpuppies and a proper old Florida fish-house sensibility: Cedar River Seafood works South Walnut Street in Starke as one of four family-owned locations. The galley will broil, blacken or fry any item on request, and every dinner lands with hushpuppies plus two sides chosen from grits, fried okra, collard greens, baby limas and more. Begin with conch fritters, Florida-style crab cakes or fried green tomatoes. Then grouper filet, whole catfish, shrimp scampi, house-made crab-stuffed flounder, or Southern-style shrimp and grits. The platters feed two generously. Regulars come back for portion size and unfussy consistency. Old-school Florida value, undiminished.
