CITY MARKET BISTRO – Restaurant

A chef-owned bistro on Canal Street in New Smyrna Beach's historic district, small enough that the daily specials get explained table by table. The dinner card is French-leaning American: seared foie gras with fig jam, escargot, lamb meatballs over smoked cheddar grits, mussels in saffron tomato broth, then steak frites, chicken under a brick, pan-seared scallops with lobster sauce, roasted trout amandine, a foie gras burger. Oysters come by the half or full dozen. Lunch runs midweek, dinner Tuesday through Saturday, and the wine programme drives monthly winemaker dinners. Sides tell you plenty: crab mac and cheese, hand-cut truffle fries.
