COOKS BUFFET CAFE BAKERY – American
A DeLand institution since 1959, when Bob and Willa Cook opened the original Holiday House Restaurant inside a two-storey home built in 1901 and built a buffet around hand-carved meats. Cook's still works that way. You take a plate for the endless salads, a carver serves one meat entree, then you help yourself to vegetables. Soup, dessert, drinks and a second entree come to the table. There is a vegetarian buffet, a children's plate, and a Heritage meal of one entree with mashed potatoes and gravy. Birthdays are honoured with a complimentary dinner and cake, compliments of the Cook family.
