COTOLETTA – Italian

South of Fifth got its own one-dish Italian in December, an eighty-seat room of indoor and outdoor tables built to feel like a neighbourhood trattoria rather than a Miami Beach scene. The kitchen makes one thing and makes it properly: cotoletta alla Milanese, the breaded veal chop, finished with rosemary and lemon zest. It arrives after antipasti, with a choice of spaghetti al pomodoro e basilico, house fries, or arugula with heritage tomato and Parmigiano Reggiano. Dessert means flourless chocolate cake, cheesecake with raspberry coulis, or a vanilla affogato. Chianti Classico, Vermentino and Prosecco fill the list. Simplicity, done seriously.
