On Calle Ocho in Little Havana, Cubata reads Spanish as much as Cuban: jamon iberico and Manchego, carpaccio de pulpo, carpaccio de carne, ensalada de pollo cubana, and a weekly secret tapa the chef will not print. The bocatas are the anchor, pressed on crusty bread - vaca frita with caramelised onions and crisp potatoes, the Cubano a lo Cubata, an Iberian pork loin with chorizo and Manchego, a tuna with arugula. Drinks run half price daily from four until eight. Latin DJs Thursday, live music from nine at weekends. The room fills late, and dinner reliably turns into dancing.
