Nashville-style heat, ordered by number and by nerve. Dave's Hot Chicken began in 2017 as a parking-lot stand in East Hollywood, four friends and nine hundred dollars between them, and the formula has barely changed: tenders laid on plain white bread, or sliders stacked with pickles, house kale slaw and the chipotle-mayo Dave's Sauce. Seven spice levels run from no spice to Reaper, which needs a signed waiver. Sides are french fries, cheese fries, macaroni cheese and more of that kale slaw. The chicken is halal. This Gainesville dining room sits on Southwest Archer Road and fries until midnight, nightly.
