DIANNE'S OLD TIME BARBEQUE – Restaurant

Roadside barbecue on US 301, doors open at six every morning and staying on until nine. Breakfast comes first: eggs, grits, biscuits and smoked sausage, coffee poured hot. By lunch the pits take over with pulled pork, ribs and sliced pork sent out with a rack of sauces, alongside roast beef, baked beans, potato salad, collard greens, mac and cheese and fried okra. A vegetable plate with cornbread suits anyone skipping the meat. Onion rings get ordered on reflex. Sweet tea is the drink. A barbecue salad and sandwich lighten it. Table service, takeout, a plain dining room, generous plates.
