DISALVO'S PIZZA – Restaurant

A family Italian kitchen on North 46th Avenue in Hollywood, started when Frank DiSalvo left a twenty-five-year hairdressing career to build a restaurant around his wife Antoinette's cooking; the family reckons another twenty-five years have gone by since. Garlic rolls come with almost everything. Beyond them sit fried calamari, clams oreganato, stuffed artichoke, eggplant rollatini and mussels marinara, then pizzas, calzones and strombolis rolled with capicolla or Philly steak. Parmigianas arrive as veal, shrimp, chicken or eggplant, plated or pressed into a sub. Weekday specials run cash-only. Eat in, call ahead, or let it travel. Straightforward, generous, and largely unchanged.
