DON MATIAS CAFE – Restaurant

Colombian cooking in Hialeah Gardens, open from half past seven in the morning right through until nine at night. The bandeja paisa is the reference point: grilled steak, chicharron, fried egg, rice, arepa, sweet plantain and red beans on one groaning plate. Around it sit cazuela de frijol, sancocho de costilla de res, chuleta calena, lengua a la criolla and bistec a caballo under a fried egg. Seafood runs to cazuela de mariscos, mojarra frita and garlic shrimp with tostones. Start with chicharron and arepa, morcilla, empanadas or hogao. Churrasco and picanha come off the grill. Antioquian food, plainly done.
