El Toro Bravo has poured Southwest Mexican cooking and margaritas on Clark Road in Sarasota since Ruben and Connie Caban opened it two decades ago; ownership has since passed to Dan and Cheryl Prieto, who kept the cantina and tequila-bar format intact. The kitchen runs fajitas of grilled beef or chicken with peppers and onions, a non-fried chimichanga stuffed with spiced beef under green chile sauce, chile rellenos, and huevos rancheros over corn tortillas. A rewards club keeps regulars coming back, and the dining room stays open into the evening most nights. Reviewers praise generous plates and a lively bar.
