GROUPER SHACK – Restaurant

Tucked into a working boatyard marina off Nix Boat Yard Road, Grouper Shack does dockside seafood the way St. Augustine boaters want it: order at the counter, eat with the water in view. Start with the smoked fish dip, the crab dip or conch fritters, then work through half-pound baskets of fried local shrimp, grouper, trigger, oysters or Atlantic scallops. Ceviche, gator tail and homemade cornbread round it out. Diners come back for that fish dip above all, and for prices that stay honest at a waterfront table. Family-owned, unfussy, firmly on the side of the fish.
