Hunan Gardens has been part of the Linton Boulevard strip since the 1980s, when the founding family settled in Delray Beach and opened a dining room they still run themselves. The cooking spans Hunan, Szechuan, Shanghai and Mandarin, with spare ribs and ma po tofu among the dishes regulars ask for by name, plus a mix-and-match vegetarian section that lets you build your own plate. Combination platters keep lunch quick and cheap. Three decades in, it trades on what it always has: familiar Chinese cooking and staff who know their customers.
