Punta Gorda's Hungry Howie's makes the case in one bite of crust. Every pizza can be finished with one of eight flavors at no cost — butter cheese for the classicists, cajun for a bit of heat, garlic herb for everything else. The kitchen also sends out specialty pies, oven-baked subs built like calzones, Howie Bread, wings by the ten or twenty, chicken tenders, antipasto salads and cinnamon bread stix. The recurring customer note is dependability: right order, fast, fair price. Not trying to reinvent pizza — just improving the last inch of it.
