Small-town Walton County does not lack for pizza opinions, and the DeFuniak Springs Hungry Howie's on US Highway 331 has its share of loyalists. The pitch is the crust: eight flavors — butter, butter cheese, Asiago, ranch, Cajun, sesame, garlic herb, Italian herb — brushed on before baking, over original round or thin. Around it sit oven-baked calzone-style subs, bone-in and boneless wings, tenders, Howie Bread with dipping sauce, salads and cookies. Customers come back to the same two points: the deals stretch, and they finish the crust instead of leaving it. Order it, flavor it, done.
