Jimbo's Hamburger Place – Restaurant
A counter, a grill and not much else - Jimbo's runs a First Avenue room that looks like it stopped redecorating a very long time ago, and that is precisely the appeal. Breakfast starts early with pancakes, French toast and omelettes. Lunch is burgers, club sandwiches, cheesesteaks, chicken cutlet and grilled cheese, with wings, platters and sides behind them. Prices stay firmly in diner territory. What regulars describe is less the food than the room: the cooks know the customers, the customers know each other, and the stool at the counter is the whole point. Midtown East, unreconstructed.
