Named for the owner's grandmother and set in the Shoppes of Avondale, Josephine does Italian-American cooking with a Jacksonville accent - low light, mismatched plates, handmade pasta and a lot of locally sourced produce. Sourdough focaccia and pizza rolls stuffed with wild mushroom, fontina and mortadella start things; sticky ribs arrive in blood orange and rosemary; the bolognese comes over handmade trenette with veal ragu.
