Dwight Witherspoon Jr. cooks in the shadow of a family name — his father ran Spoon's Grill — and Just Spoons Cafe on West Broward Boulevard is his own read on it: soul food kept to the hours of a brunch room. Catfish and grits, curry shrimp and grits, Cajun fried chicken landing beside vanilla bean French toast, a pork chop sandwich, seafood boil and grits. The Butta Pecan French toast has a following all its own. It closes mid-afternoon, so the queue builds early. Comfort food, with a twist it earns.
