LA CABANA DEL TIO – Restaurant

A tiny Drew Street storefront where the tortillas are pressed by hand and the register only takes cash. La Cabana del Tio keeps it short and Mexican: street tacos filled with al pastor, carnitas or chicken, sopes built up with beans and crema, beef empanadas, and horchata poured over ice. Regulars talk about the house hot sauce as much as the food, and about portions that land well under what they expected to pay. The menu is in Spanish only and the room seats barely anyone. Point, order, eat well.
