Half Eastern European deli, half café: Mama Bella on South Dixie Highway keeps a pizza oven and a small bar running alongside shelves of imported groceries, charcuterie and wine. Order at the counter and stay — borscht and pierogies, cabbage rolls, chicken kebab, eggs Benedict, an egg-white spinach frittata, grilled chicken caprese, a vegetarian Italian sub, and house fries cooked properly. Breakfast runs into dinner, Tuesday through Saturday. What diners return to is the welcome, which is unusually warm for a counter, and food that tastes made rather than bought. Old-school, in the best sense.
