A white-tablecloth room off Carlton Arms Boulevard where the beef is the point: Michael John's ages its own USDA Prime Iowa cuts in house and pairs them with whatever came off the local boats that week. Opened in 2006 and known around Bradenton simply as MJ's, it reads French-American brasserie — steaks and seafood, a proper bar, the J Lounge next door for a cocktail before or after. Dinner only, Monday through Saturday from 4:30. Guests keep returning for the polish of the service as much as the cooking. Old-school in the best sense.
