The University Parkway branch of Michelangelo Pizzeria & Cucina, a local family-owned Italian outfit that has been trading on Florida's Gulf coast since 1980. Expect the full red-sauce repertoire: 16-inch artisan and Sicilian pizzas, gourmet pies from Grandma's to a lasagna pizza layered with meatballs and ricotta, pizza rolls and strombolis, and antipasti like baked clams oreganata, calamari fritti and arancino di riso. Heroes, house salads by the one- or two-person portion, and a kids' list keep families fed. Gluten-free and cauliflower crusts are on the board too. Reliable, generous, unpretentious.
