Motek New York – Restaurant

Motek brought its Miami-born Mediterranean cafe to New York, and the format travelled intact: all-day service, seed-oil-free cooking, pita baked to order. The menu draws on Israeli, Moroccan, Lebanese and Yemeni kitchens - shakshuka baked in its skillet and served with challah, hummus worked until it is silky, crispy cauliflower, chopped salads, chicken schnitzel sandwiches, arayes of spiced beef griddled inside pita. Diners consistently single out the bread and the ease of a place that works equally for breakfast, a long lunch or dinner. Motek is Hebrew for sweetheart.
