Nitin Bakery works a corner of NW 17th Avenue as bakery and hot counter at once. The cases hold Dominican and Cuban cakes, tres leches, cheesecake flan, chocolate pastries and habichuela con dulce, and custom birthday cakes get built to order with fruit inside and out. Behind that runs a small hot line: meat empanadas with a cortadito, plates of Dominican food for people eating on their break. It is a bakery in the neighbourhood sense rather than the boutique one, and the sweets are the reason to stop.
