North Shore Bakery – Restaurant
A family-run kosher bakery on West Touhy Avenue in West Rogers Park, baking from early morning and closing by mid-afternoon. Everything is made on the premises and certified by the Chicago Rabbinical Council, with Yoshon flour throughout: seeded rye and pumpernickel, challah that regulars buy by the armful, onion rolls, Danish, rugelach, poppy seed coffee cake, custard eclairs and chocolate-filled croissants. Custom birthday cakes are a specialty, and the breads turn up in local shops and restaurants. Walk in, point, leave happy.
