Zalmans Hot Dogs – Restaurant

The Chicago outpost of a kosher hot-dog chain that grew up in Israel — ten branches there, one on West Touhy Avenue here. The dogs are CRC glatt kosher, tucked into soft rolls with fries or onion rings and a toppings list that runs well past ketchup and mustard: chimichurri, sauerkraut, garlic mayo, relish, sweet chilli. Past the dogs there are burgers, wings, salads and sandwiches built on pastrami, turkey, grilled chicken and schnitzel. Closed Friday and Saturday, as you would expect. Casual, family-friendly, and unapologetically a hot-dog counter.
