Nueva San Salvador is a small Miami-Dade group of Salvadoran kitchens, and the pupusa is the anchor: griddled thick, filled with cheese, chicharron or revuelta, served with curtido. Beyond that the menu runs to carne asada, yuca con chicharron, tamales, sopa de res, camarones enchilados and the big mixed plato tipico with beans, eggs and fried plantain. Prices are low, portions are not. Diners describe the cooking as homestyle and familiar rather than polished, and the rooms as neighbourhood places where regulars are known.
