POLO NORTE – Restaurant
The Busquet family left Cuba in the Mariel boatlift and opened Polo Norte in 1992 as an ice cream parlor; Hurricane Andrew arrived three days later. They reopened, added Cuban pizza, and the thing grew into six family-run restaurants across South Florida. The Coral Way room does the full range - traditional Cuban plates, bistec uruguayo, and pizza cubana topped with guava and cheese or sweet plantains. Caribbean ice cream flavors like mamey and guava close things out. Thirty-plus years on, still family owned and still making the case for pizza with plantains on it.
