SANCOCHO Y LEÑA STEAK GRILL – Restaurant

Sancocho y Lena Steak and Grill cooks Venezuelan llanera food the way it is meant to be cooked - over wood, slowly, in quantity. The name says both halves of it: the sancocho, a deep beef soup loaded with yuca, ocumo, yam and corn that regulars insist you order first, and the lena, the open fire that turns out carne en vara, smoky beef sold by the pound or on a platter. Cachapas, picanha and tequenos fill in around them. Portions are large, the staff are attentive, and weekend live music turns the room loud in the best way.
