TAQUERIA SAN FERNANDO – Restaurant

Taqueria San Fernando works NW 35th Street in Allapattah as a counter-service taqueria with no ambitions beyond getting it right. Al pastor and carne asada street tacos start around three and a half dollars; tortas come on telera bread; house green and red salsas do the rest. Corn tortillas, chopped onion, cilantro, lime - nothing else on the plate. Most of the menu stays under twelve dollars and both cash and card are fine. Diners keep making the same distinction: this is Mexican food, not the fast-food version wearing its name.
