Massimo Bottura's Miami restaurant: a deliberately loud 1980s Italian-riviera fantasy of color and pattern, spread across a dining room and terrace in the Design District. Lunch and dinner, with a tasting menu that is the reason most people come. The cooking is modern Italian and unapologetically playful — carbonara done to the letter, cacio e pepe, steak tartare, burrata caprese, a parmigiana focaccia with a proper crust, tender lamb, and a key lime pie that nods to the city it landed in. Service is drilled and warm. Not cheap, and not pretending to be.
