The counter turns out a classic Cuban sandwich with lean pork, breaded palomilla steak, shredded beef Cuban style, pescado al limon and a daily rotation of homemade specials — plus boiled yuca with chimol, plantains and a guava-and-cheese pastry to take with the coffee. Breakfast has its own following, big plates and oatmeal included. Diners come back for the garlic sauce, the prices and staff who remember faces.
