Cuban pastry and proper coffee in Fort Lauderdale, from a bakery that opened in Hialeah in 1972. Antonio and Gelasia Cao met working at a Havana bakery and brought the recipes with them; their children have carried the business across Florida without altering the formula. Pastelitos are baked in flaky golden layers all day, croquetas and bocaditos come by the tray, sandwiches are pressed on Cuban bread, and cafecito and café con leche pour from open to close. Custom cakes and catering trays on request, refresquitos for the heat. A morning ritual with fifty years behind it.
