Cuban pastry and strong coffee in Key Largo, from a family bakery that has been at it since 1972. Antonio and Gelasia Cao opened the first Vicky in Hialeah after leaving Havana, and their recipes still govern the ovens: pastelitos in flaky golden layers baked through the day, croquetas and bocaditos, sandwiches pressed on Cuban bread, cafecito and café con leche whenever you want them. Custom cakes are made to order and catering trays travel well. Refresquitos take the edge off the Keys heat. A proper stop before the drive south.
