Tucked inside Cauley Square Historic Village, the Village Chalet occupies a 1900s cottage with a garden and a shaded deck, and the setting does half the work. The kitchen keeps to continental comfort - steaks, pastas, a short seasonal wine list - served at a pace that assumes you are in no hurry. Live music turns up on weekends and the room fills with people who have made it a standing tradition. It is a step out of Miami rather than a night in it, which is exactly the point.
