ZAP THAI – Restaurant

A Thai kitchen on Conway Road in Belle Isle, cooking street food closer to how it tastes in Thailand than to how it usually gets softened for the suburbs. Pad thai and pad see ew do the steady work; the curries — panang, massaman — are where the kitchen shows its hand, and the summer rolls with peanut sauce get ordered before anyone opens the menu. Pineapple fried rice, garlic chicken, tom yum and cashew tofu round it out. Diners say two things repeatedly: it is more authentic than they expected, and they would drive out of their way for it.
