ALVAREZ AUTHENTIC LATIN FOOD 2 – Restaurant
A small family-run counter on North Florida Avenue with only a handful of tables and a menu far bigger than the room. Mornings bring chilaquiles and folded omelettes; later it is carne asada, enchiladas, fish tacos, burritos, fajitas and a torta or pambazo built to order. The kitchen crosses borders happily, so tostones, platanos rellenos, ceviche, shrimp cocktail and a Cuban sandwich share the board. Pozole and menudo appear on Fridays and Saturdays. Agua fresca is the drink to order with it. What diners repeat is how much food arrives for the money. Everything is fresh, home-style and entirely unhurried.
