Level two of Bal Harbour Shops on Collins Avenue, two covered terraces, eighty seats, and service running from nine in the morning until ten at night. Avenue 31 Cafe plays European: Italian plates, French pastry, and a breakfast card worth arriving early for, from avocado toast with a poached egg to an Italian omelet with prosciutto cotto and stracchino, croissant eggs Benedict and blueberry waffles. Later it shifts to kale salad, tuna tartare, burrata, spicy rigatoni, prosciutto di Parma, mortadella pinsa with stracciatella and pistachio, filet mignon and the house burger. Shopping-day refuelling, but with proper European cooking behind it.
