Everything here traces back to a grandmother named Matilde, and the kitchen still works from her recipes. Avila Bakery & Cafe brings Venezuelan baking to Blanding Boulevard in Orange Park, opening early on weekdays for arepas stuffed to order, among them the Curvy Queen with shredded chicken and avocado, plus empanadas including a pabellon version loaded with beef, beans, cheese and plantain. Tequenos arrive hot, cachapas straddle sweet and savoury, and a Caracas-style burger handles the bigger appetites. Nutella, Biscoff and dulce de leche lattes, tres leches and flan finish it. All made from scratch, so pull up a seat.
