BABALU'S CUBAN CAFE – Restaurant

Port St. Lucie Boulevard, a full bar, and a menu that does not hedge on the classics. Babalu's cooks ropa vieja the long way, sends out rabo encendido for the table that knows to order it, and turns local fish into enchilado de mahi-mahi. Around those sit sandwiches, pork, chicken, salads and a proper list of Cuban desserts. There is a private room seating twenty-five to forty, and the kitchen caters. Doors open at eleven; Mondays are dark. Portions arrive generous and the room stays loud in the way a good Cuban cafe should. Come hungry, and leave with leftovers.
