BABE ZAHARIAS GOLF COURSE – Restaurant
Tampa knows this municipal course as The Babe, named for Mildred Didrikson Zaharias, who owned and managed it for seven years. Babe Zaharias Grill opens at half past six each morning and stays on into the evening, and you need no tee time to eat there. Breakfast is pressed on La Segunda Cuban bread: Cuban toast, two eggs with bacon, ham or sausage. Later come a smashed cheeseburger on sourdough, a mojo pork Cuban, bratwurst, turkey bacon club and a house salad with grilled chicken, plus mozzarella sticks and mac and cheese bites. Sales tax is built into the prices.
