BAHAMA FISH – Restaurant

A working fish counter with tables in front of it. Whole fish and fillets sit on ice at the back, sold by the pound and cooked however you ask - grilled, breaded, blackened or drowned in garlic. Starters lean Cuban: fritura de cobo, fritura de malanga, tostones rellenos stuffed with shrimp or crab, smoked fish paste with crackers, calamares rebozados. Ceviches are mixed to order, and the kitchen turns out shrimp enchilado, jalea mixta, sopa de almeja and a pan con minuta sandwich. Prices stay modest, and portions do not. Regulars come back for the freshness rather than the decor.
