BAVARO'S PIZZA NAPOLETANA & PASTARIA – Restaurant
Bavaro's brought its Neapolitan ovens south into Sarasota's Towles Court, a short walk off Main Street with a city lot next door. The family opened its first Florida pizzeria in Tampa in 2009 and the recipes travelled intact: San Marzano tomato, fior di latte, dough baked hot and fast so the centre stays yielding. Pasta is made in house, from penne alla vodka through tagliatelle bolognese to cheese ravioli. Angela's ricotta meatballs and Calabrian wings open the card; cannoli and espresso close it. Dinner service dominates and the room fills early. The family's own sauces are bottled and sold too.
