North Dale Mabry Highway, an exhibition kitchen in full view, and the smell of basil and chilli coming over the pass. Benjarong Thai has been a north Tampa fixture for years and the cooking stays with Thai standards done properly: pad Thai, panang curry, pad kee mao, cashew nut, yum seafood salad, tom yum soup and Thai fried rice, with vegetarian versions running through the card. Lunch opens at eleven, the kitchen breaks mid-afternoon, dinner runs to nine. Beer and wine drop two dollars between four and seven on weekdays. Regulars talk about consistency more than novelty. Parking is free.
