BLUE DOG BAR & GRILL – Restaurant

Matlacha's fishing-village strip runs on local catch, and Blue Dog Bar & Grill builds its kitchen around it, buying from island fishermen, farmers, ranchers and brewers. Start with smoked fish dip, peel-and-eat shrimp, cracked conch or the mullet sampler, a nod to the water just outside. Sesame-seared ahi tuna nachos and the BLUE crab cake carry the same idea. Mains run to scallops in roasted garlic scampi, TNT shrimp, a New York strip and Savannah's chicken; the Hippie Burger and mahi or mullet tacos anchor the casual side. Key lime pie closes it. Open Tuesday through Saturday, eleven until nine.
