BRITISH OPEN PUB – Restaurant

Venice's English dining room on Jacaranda Boulevard runs a proper pub card and hides a second bar called Behind the Bookcase. Squire John's fish and chips is the house pride, North Atlantic cod in a light beer batter, also offered baked or blackened. Around it sit scotch eggs, Gaelic rolls of home-cooked corned beef and cabbage, bangers and mash, liver and onions, cottage pie, steak and ale pie and a Cornish pastie. Soup rotates by weekday, split pea Wednesday, clam chowder Friday. Happy hour runs eleven to six daily, Sunday brings brunch, and a fish-and-chips truck takes the kitchen out.
